We actually met Sarah for the first time when we put together our styled shoot last year! She works at the amazing Swedish Bakery, and they provided the stunning cake for our shoot. We are so excited to have the opportunity to capture Sarah and Konrad’s big day! These two are seriously the cutest. For their engagement session, we started at the beautiful Art Institute South Garden and even joined in on a quick dance lesson. From there, we explored Millennium Park before heading to the West Loop where we stopped by a colorful mural painted by Konrad’s favorite artist POSE. We can’t wait to capture their wedding this September at Chez!

Here’s are some of our favorites from Sarah and Konrad’s Chicago West Loop engagement session!

Allison found us through our Instagram account, and contacted us for their engagement session! Allison and Feng are seriously adorable! These two wanted to show off their love for Chicago before permanently moving to San Francisco. And we couldn’t think of a better way to highlight Chicago than capturing this amazing city at night. From North Avenue Beach and Lower Wacker Driver to the iconic Chicago Theater sign on State Street, we had such an awesome night exploring with these two lovebirds. Congrats Allison and Feng! Your wedding next August in San Francisco is going to be epic!

From the Art Institute of Chicago to Adler Planetarium, we were delighted to spend a beautiful Sunday evening in May with Kayla and Steve. Using some of Chicago’s most iconic locations as backdrops, these die-hard Chicago Cubs fans held each other close and were nothing but smiles. These two also weren’t afraid of getting their feet wet! We can’t even begin to imagine how incredibly romantic and fun their wedding is going to be this August at Noah’s!

We can’t believe how quickly May came and went! May brought us amazing weather and incredible memories, including rooftop editing sessions, testing our new lighting equipment on our cats, and romantic weddings. Not only did we have five gorgeous weddings, we also shot a few corporate head shots, an open house, and a handful of engagement sessions, as well as book some pretty awesome couples for 2017!

Our May weddings were simply stunning. From Warehouse 109 to a quiet park in Evanston, we were so lucky to capture the beginning of some pretty beautiful marriages. We are seriously so lucky to have some of the most genuine and laid back couples ever! While driving home after one of our weddings, we were caught in a thunderstorm. We immediately turned the car around, ran into the reception, and asked our super cool couple if they wanted to take a few epic rain shots! They didn’t even hesitate – the bride ran outside with no shoes on!! We were even able to experiment with creating a fake sunset during a very overcast day at the Morton Arboretum for one of our engagement sessions! We were also featured on Overheard at UChicago’s Facebook page! LOL! A student snuck a few iPhone photos of us in action at Bartlett (the university’s cafeteria) while we were busy shooting our couple next to their house table. So funny! And the latest addition to our photography add-ons, our nifty open air photo booth, was a huge hit at the Zhou B Art Center open house and our last May wedding!

We also started something new this month for the Chicago wedding photography community. We are hosting a monthly brunch for local photographers to come together and get to know each other! Instead of just being Facebook friends, we want interactions between people to be in-person and real. We plan on going to a different Chicago brunch location every month. It’s a super relaxed way to network and stay updated with friends during this busy wedding season. Our May brunch had 11 attendees, and our June brunch has over 25 RSVPs!! We are so excited, and hope this continues to grow. We definitely believe in community over competition. The Chicago wedding photographers community is so amazing and supportive, and it’s our hope that we can all gain something out of our monthly brunches. After all, a rising tide lifts all boats.

Aside from photography-related news, we are now on the waitlist for Chicago Blackhawks season tickets! Only a 5-year long wait list… ahahaha! And the most exciting news is that we are officially moving to Bucktown in July! Prior to living in Oak Park, we lived in Chicago (Rogers Park) for four years, and we are so excited to be moving back to the city. We plan on making our new home a place where we can meet our current and future couples. We want it to be an inviting place to work and live. We can’t wait to see what this move has in-store! Time to go furniture shopping –  a new cat condo is in the near future for Oreo and Amber!

Last month we had the opportunity to photograph Zhou B Art Center‘s Open House, and it was downright glamorous! With 28,000 sq ft, this venue is ideal for your next event. Surrounded by beautiful artwork, some of the most talented Chicago wedding vendors transformed the space into a wedding wonderland, which included stunning florals, elaborate tablescapes, and even a beautiful chuppah. The night was filled with so much laughter, mingling, and delicious hors d’oeuvres. We had a great time! Thank you Zhou B Art Center for asking us to capture such a fun and beautiful open house!
