Chicago Ravenswood Neighborhood Microwedding | Alyssa & Alex

June 26, 2020

COVID-19 has turned our (along with millions of others’) world upside down. It has disrupted plans, devastated small businesses, and instilled an unimaginable sense of uncertainty in many. We have navigated through situations we’d never have imagined. There have been many sleepless nights. But one thing continues to give us hope and is a constant reminder of how truly amazing things can still be: the compassion and overwhelming support from the people around us. We know we say it all the time, but seriously, OUR COUPLES ARE THE FREAKIN’ BEST!

And one thing is for damn sure, nothing can stop our amazing couples from celebrating love, not even a global pandemic.

Alyssa and Alex are not only just the kindest, but they are also incredible doctors and humanitarians. And these two didn’t want something like the Coronavirus to stop them from getting married. So instead of hosting their wedding at Chicago Illuminating Company with 150+ guests as originally planned, these two held a super intimate and sweet celebration in their Ravenswood neighborhood.

Ed was the only photographer on this day, and began by documenting these two in their home as they got ready. Unlike a typical wedding day morning, there was no big group of people hanging out or loved ones going from room to room. Instead, in order to ensure everyone’s safety, Alyssa had a friend help her into her dress, and a dress reveal to family was done over FaceTime. Alex also had a friend help him with his suit and tie. The morning was quiet, filled with unspoken excitement and nerves.

Alyssa and Alex decided to have their first look right outside, and even sprayed a little champagne in front of their house before walking over to their ceremony. A socially-distanced ceremony was held at nearby Winnemac Park where a small handful of loved ones witnessed their vows in-person, while another handful watched via FaceTime or Zoom. And after their ceremony, we all walked over to Alyssa’s sister’s front yard for a small get-together. And as they had their first dance on the front lawn, it was proof that the only thing needed to make a wedding day absolutely perfect was two people undeniably in love.

Here are some of our favorites of Alyssa and Alex’s Chicago Ravenswood Neighborhood Microwedding!

Everyone (including strangers picnicking and exercising) at the park cheered for Alyssa and Alex as they had their first kiss. Social distancing can’t stop pure joy!!
Alyssa and Alex were greeted by their friends and family as they walked from Winnemac Park to Alyssa’s sister’s Chicago bungalow. The front lawn was cutely decorated and chairs/blankets were spread out to ensure social distancing.
Some family members weren’t able to make it to this microwedding, so Zoom and FaceTime brought everyone together.
For us, this moment proves that these two are meant to be: just the two of them, taking everything in and overjoyed at finally being married to each other.

“Alex and I wanted to follow up to thank you SO MUCH for our beautiful photos! we are over the moon with how happy we are with how they turned out! You really worked your magic and captured the special moments of our microwedding. We can’t even begin to express how grateful we are for being there for our special day!” -Alyssa & Alex

And here is their highlight film from this incredible day. Special shoutout to our videographer Jay who captured all these amazing moments!
