Oh my goodness, wedding season took us by storm, and we LOVED every minute of it! With all the incredible weddings, engagement sessions, and boudoir sessions, we didn’t have any time to blog! EEK! But now as we sit in a plane on our way back to Chicago from Amsterdam, we finally have time to reflect over the last few months. And we are seriously in shock . . . Thank you all so much for making 2016 the most amazing year yet!
So here is a quick summary of the last few months! Oh, and January will have it’s own wrap-up – filled with Europe, new tattoos, birthdays, and anniversaries!
September: In the beginning of September, we had our housewarming party! FINALLY! Over 30 of our friends came to celebrate our new home. One of our friends even brought piñata, LOL! We also celebrated our 2-year wedding anniversary. We had an amazing dinner, and took the day off to relax and be present in our relationship. We definitely recommend unplugging once in awhile! During this time, we also attended our friend’s wedding as guests! Aileen was there during getting ready sipping mimosas and swooning over Heather’s gold wedding dress, and we all partied at Little Goat in the West Loop. Congrats again Heather and Avihai! And at the end of the month, we traveled to Kansas City, MO for a 3-day mentoring session with a husband and wife team that we not only admire but truly respect. It was such a gift to be able to spend a few days in their home with their family. And even though we didn’t pick up our cameras once while we were there, we learned more about ourselves, goals, and work than we had all year. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you Jeremy & Ash.
October: In the beginning of October, we took a week long road trip to Maine. We stopped in Rochester, NY to visit our friends who recently moved from Chicago. It was so great catching up with them (and cuddling with their kitties)! From Portsmouth, NH to Baxter State Park, the fall foliage was unbelievable. Never seen anything like it! We even stopped to capture one of our couple’s engagement session in Portland, ME! Aileen second shot a wedding during our time in Maine too! We spent the last few days of warm weather in Chicago by hosting another Boozy Photo Brunch – a great way for the Chicago wedding photography community to get together and destress just for a little bit. Aileen was also lucky enough to travel to Cleveland to second shoot another super fun wedding!
November: Ed turned 32 on 11/10!! We celebrated by going to a Blackhawks game and also with a surprise b-day party at Whirleyball! We even played laser tag (Aileen’s team lost miserably…). We also threw a Boozy Photo Brunch Friendsgiving – a big THANK YOU to Monika for hosting! And the food that people brought were delicious! From prosciutto imported from Spain to homemade stuffing, we left the party with our stomachs and hearts full. Can’t wait for next year! Thanksgiving was hosted by Ed’s aunt, and of course, Ed made his famous pecan pie! YUM!
December: We went to China to visit Aileen’s family for the holidays in the beginning of December. It was so great seeing Aileen’s grandparents. This time we brought our cameras to document their daily activities, so we can always remember who they truly are. And seriously guys, relationship goals… While in China, we also did an engagement session for one of our Chicago couples who recently moved to Beijing (perfect timing!)! We came back to Chicago just in time for our White Elephant Party. Best present was definitely the jar of pickled broccoli, ahahaha! We spent Christmas day at Ed’s sister’s new house with family. And we celebrated NYE with an epic wedding filled with confetti, a balloon drop, and so much laughter! Couldn’t have asked for a better way to ring in 2017!
