The Barn At Hornbaker Gardens Wedding | Chelsea & Josh

February 2, 2017

In Chelsea’s own words about her beautiful and heartfelt wedding day at Hornbaker Gardens: “Between the temperature, the colors, and the out door activities, the fall has always been our favorite time of year. Naturally we had our hearts set on October and the wedding gods could not have blessed us with a more beautiful day. This day was as much about Josh and I as it was about the people we had invited. It was really an opportunity to thank them for their love and support through our triumphs and our heart breaks. It was a celebration of a two people joined forever through a community’s love; a love that was woven into each element of the wedding. My best friends created all the signage, dream catcher, and bride’s maid’s earrings. I had grown up going to the Hornbaker Gardens nursery and having my hair styled at Jay’s Salon. Thus, it was hard not to feel the love that day.  The details in our wedding were special to both Josh and I since we made all decisions together from music selection to stationary, ceremony readings to the movie collection of wedding favors. Josh baked the wedding cake, my father and I cut ribbon and assembled decoration for the favors, we had our favorite, Revolution Brewery’s Anti-Hero, as our feature beer, my parents perfected their Spiked Hot Cider recipe offered during the ceremony, I wore my mother’s pearls and she handed down a necklace her mother gave her on her wedding day. We used our own blankets for the bonfire, had late night pizza from Josh’s favorite, Monical’s Pizza, and we danced our first dance to a song, ‘A Sunday Kind of Love,’ by an artist so profound to us we named our dog after her, Etta. We were married in front of a handmade dream catcher made of my maternal grandmother’s doilies and much of the furniture in the wedding including the tea table we cut our cake on was hers. Even those who are no longer physically present are always with us and we intended to capture this idea through tradition, items, and the display of photos. Time spent with my father was particularly meaningful to me as he walked me down the aisle to a song we both feel strongly is the best ever written, A Whiter Shade of Pale by Procol Harum, and thanks to a friend since middle school, my father and I were transported back in time as we reminisced to a daddy-daughter slide show overlaid by my first favorite song that he introduced me to, ‘The Weight by The Band.’ Hands down our favorite memory of the day was the ceremony. Officiated by a dear friend with more heart and soul than anyone we know, he even crafted a book to hold the ceremony documents. And although it was initially a portion of the wedding we had under estimated, as we read the vows we wrote to each other, we realized no other moment could ever top it.”

“You capture such incredible moments shared between people at the height of their love. We see it throughout our own wedding photos whether it’s a look captured in a split second between Josh and I that says everything about how in love we are or tears of joy between friends and family when reminiscing on all the memories that lead to this one.  Thank you for capturing such a beautiful and important day in our lives so perfectly.” – Chelsea & Josh
