Intimate Chicago Wedding Ceremonies | Love in the Time of Corona

June 30, 2020

Intimate Chicago wedding ceremonies are the new black during these Covid times!

The majority of our 2020 couples have been greatly affected by COVID-19—from putting major life plans on hold to navigating a “new normal” to deciding to postpone their celebrations to a time where they can dance the night away with their loved ones all under one roof. But that doesn’t mean weddings are not happening! Some of our couples have decided to throw small intimate wedding ceremonies on their original wedding dates while hosting their receptions in the near future. And we have been more than lucky to tell their stories. Here are a few intimate Chicago wedding ceremonies that Ed had the honor of capturing:

KATHERINE AND DAVE. These two made the difficult decision to postpone their May wedding to next year and opted for an intimate rooftop ceremony with only four loved ones. Dave’s brother was the officiant, and an iPad was setup for family to watch Katherine and Dave as they were officially pronounced married. They even sprayed champagne in celebration. It was the perfect afternoon filled with sun, wind, and lots of laughs! We can’t wait to capture their wedding next year at The Hive on Hubbard!!

From Katherine & Dave: “Ah, we love it!!! Thanks so much :)”

And our videographer Jay was also there to capture everything!

MICHELLE AND CHRIS: With their families living all over the world, Michelle and Chris postponed their wedding to a time when it would be safe for their guests to travel to Chicago. And while we are excited to capture their reception later this year at Waldorf Astoria Chicago, their intimate ceremony at Chicago Joyful Community Church was incredibly heartfelt and sweet. Michelle and Chris even found a way to incorporate family members who were unable to make it. There was a live stream of the ceremony, followed by messages from their loved ones. At the end, Chris danced down the aisle with his wife Michelle!

From Michelle and Chris: “We are writing to express how much we love the ceremony photos!! Thank you so so much!!! Your photos are so special and powerful that they make us go straight back to those exact moments just by looking at them. We can’t wait until our September event at Waldorf.”

Messages and love all the way from South Korea!
Look at those dance moves! And doesn’t Michelle’s smile just light up the room?!

KELSEY & TIMMY. After postponing their March wedding at Fishermen’s Inn to later this year, these two were married at Annunciation Catholic Church with only their siblings as witnesses. Their other loved ones (including one adorable pup) watched via Zoom, and everyone was all smiles. You could feel the happiness and excitement fill the entire room! Kelsey and Timmy’s small ceremony was simply serene and utterly beautiful. Their reception this October is going to be a blast!

From Kelsey and Timmy: “Thank you so much!! We love them 🙂 Can’t wait for October!”

A couple parishioners showed up and decided to watch the ceremony too.
We absolutely love how technology is bringing family and friends (and pups) together.
And like on all wedding days, there are fun unexpected moments like the veil being blown away by the wind! LOL!
