2015 Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving!! We can’t believe how quickly this year is flying by. And before we go to our family’s house to celebrate and give thanks to all the amazing people and experiences we have encountered this year, we wanted to share our little Thanksgiving tradition – staying up late the night before to bake pies!

As many of you might know, I do not belong in the kitchen. One time I tried to bake a birthday cake for Ed, and it ended up being crumbled funfetti cake pieces in a bowl with frosting mixed in… I now know that you are supposed to let the cake cool before attempting to cut it and that you are not supposed to put frosting on a cake that just came out of the oven. Not my proudest moment. Luckily, I have Ed!

It has been a long Thanksgiving tradition for Ed to bake his famous pecan bourbon pie. And for some reason, it’s also tradition to wait until the very last minute to do this. And I’m not joking when I say last minute… We are usually up until 2AM baking the night before (I’m currently typing this at 1:39AM). This year Ed was also asked to bake a banana cream pie for his grandpa’s 80th birthday! Yum!! So while Ed made his delicious pies and burned his fingertips because we tossed our oven mitts two weeks ago (I really need to go to Bed, Bath & Beyond), I had fun documenting this little yearly tradition.

Here’s a little behind the scenes look at our kitchen the night before Thanksgiving!
