While Part One focused on our lazy days, where we just soaked in the sun and ate incredible meals. Our last day on Maui was easily the best. On Thursday morning, we impulsively decided to drive the Road to Hana and beyond, completely circumferencing Haleakalā (which voids the insurance for your rental vehicle due to unsafe driving conditions…shhhh). The scenery was absolutely breathtaking, and the things we experienced while exploring this part of Maui are something we will never forget. The 12-hour car ride around Haleakalā renewed our souls.
From the black sand beaches to the one-lane winding roads, our trip was perfect. We ignored warning signs, scaled down a bridge, and waded through running water to stand underneath a waterfall. We ignored warning signs and hiked over uneven terrain to play on a gorgeous, secluded red sand beach. We ignored warning signs (seeing a pattern…), took our rental vehicle around Haleakalā to witness the most peaceful and amazing sunset in our lives. We even made friends with Italian honeymooners and of course, cats. Our pictures are only a glimpse into the beauty of this beautiful island.
Thank you Maui. We will definitely be back.
