COVID-19 has definitely increased microwedding bookings, even while it has turned our (along with millions of others) world upside down in so many ways. It has disrupted plans, devastated small businesses, and instilled an unimaginable sense of uncertainty in many. We have navigated through situations we’d never have imagined. There have been many sleepless nights. But one thing continues to give us hope and is a constant reminder of how truly amazing things can still be: the compassion and overwhelming support from the people around us. We know we say it all the time, but seriously, OUR COUPLES ARE THE FREAKIN’ BEST!
And one thing is for damn sure, nothing can stop our amazing couples from celebrating love—especially with a microwedding—not even a global pandemic.
Alyssa and Alex are not only just the kindest, but they are also incredible doctors and humanitarians. And these two didn’t want something like the Coronavirus to stop them from getting married. So instead of hosting their wedding at Chicago Illuminating Company with 150+ guests as originally planned, these two held a super intimate and sweet celebration in their Ravenswood neighborhood.
Ed was the only photographer on this day, and began by documenting these two in their home as they got ready. Unlike a typical wedding day morning, there was no big group of people hanging out or loved ones going from room to room. Instead, in order to ensure everyone’s safety, Alyssa had a friend help her into her dress, and a dress reveal to family was done over FaceTime. Alex also had a friend help him with his suit and tie. The morning was quiet, filled with unspoken excitement and nerves.
Alyssa and Alex decided to have their first look right outside, and even sprayed a little champagne in front of their house before walking over to their ceremony. A socially-distanced ceremony was held at nearby Winnemac Park where a small handful of loved ones witnessed their vows in-person, while another handful watched via FaceTime or Zoom. And after their ceremony, we all walked over to Alyssa’s sister’s front yard for a small get-together. And as they had their first dance on the front lawn, it was proof that the only thing needed to make a wedding day absolutely perfect was two people undeniably in love.
Here are some of our favorites of Alyssa and Alex’s Chicago Ravenswood Neighborhood Microwedding!
