We recently had the most incredible adventure in Japan!! One thing you’ll learn about us is that we cannot fall asleep on a plane. Not even Benadryl can do the trick! So after five movies and three books, we landed at Narita International Airport in Tokyo. And after navigating the Tokyo subway, we made our way to our AirBNB right off the Shin-Ōkubo Station. We were exhausted, but couldn’t waste the first night in Tokyo! We decided to walk over to Shinjuku for some delicious conveyor belt sushi at Numazukō before passing out for the night. It was such an amazing first night.
On the second day, we headed over to Calico Cat Cafe. Well, more like Ed was dragged to a cat cafe by Aileen, ahaha! And later that afternoon, we met with our friend Heather. After dropping her luggage off at the AirBNB, we walked over for some fun robot sushi at Uobei in Shibuya. We even got to experience the Shibuya Crossing!! Over the next couple days, we saw the cherry blossoms at the Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden, walked up the stairs of a 8-floor manga store in Akihabara, and spent a little too much time playing with claw machines. From the crazy and chaotic Takeshita Street to the peaceful Meiji Jingu, Harajuku also provided some amazing sightseeing opportunities. We went to the famous Harry Hedgehog Cafe in the Roppongi entertainment district, and played with some prickly hedgehogs! WHEW…we definitely made the most of our time in Tokyo, and this is just Part One!
Part One documents our first four days, which consisted of the most delicious basement ramen, cherry blossom showers, and surprisingly delicious 7-eleven breakfasts. Our last two days in Tokyo, including a trip to Tsukiji Fish Market, Tokyo Skytree, and the Rainbow Bridge will be covered in Part Two. And Part Three will be all about Kyoto (and leaving our luggage in the subway station…)!
OMG!!! I miss Japan!!! Such a great trip. Thanks again for inviting me to come with!!!!!!
